Faculty Profile – Dr. Gunamani Jena

Brief Profile

Dr. Gunamani Jena is a distinguished academic and researcher in Computer Science and Engineering, with extensive experience in teaching, research, and administration. After earning his M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (National Institute of Technology), Rourkela in 2001, he began his career in academia by working in prestigious institutions like VITAM Engineering College(JNTUH, AP) and SISTAM Engineering College(JNTUH, AP). He later served as Professor and Head of the CSE department at BVC Engineering College, an autonomous institution affiliated with JNTUK, Kakinada. He completed his Ph.D. from F.M. University, Balasore, Odisha in 2009.

Dr. Jena has also held leadership roles, including serving as Principal and Professor of CSE at Roland Institute of Technology (RIT) during 2012-16, and is currently the Principal of RIT with effect from 2-05-2024. His primary research interests lie in Signal and Image Processing, with a focus on advanced methodologies such as Wavelet Transform, S Transform, and Neural Techniques.

A prolific researcher and innovator, Dr. Jena has published 50 research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences. His contributions to academia also include authoring three books and holding five patents. He has been instrumental in guiding two Ph.D. scholars to completion and is currently mentoring three more. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a Senior Member of IEEE, reflecting his active engagement with professional communities in his field.
